Policies Of Feral Fanciers, Inc.

Mission statement:

To work for the welfare and healthcare of feral and free roaming cats including but not limited to sterilization, daily feedings, receiving necessary vaccinations, care during sickness, support of caregivers, and adoption, if possible. To educate the public of the plight of feral and free roaming cats.

General

We are NOT a shelter, thus we do not take surrendered cats. Feral Fanciers, Inc. is a nonprofit group established for the purpose of TNR (trap, neuter/spay, and return) of feral and free-roaming cats to their caregiver. We do not take or relocate feral and free-roaming cats as we have no shelter and there is no place to relocate them. We work with several different veterinarians and non-profit agencies to sterilize feral and free-roaming cats. These services are not offered for free and we are responsible for paying for sterilization services, often at a discounted rate. Since rabies shots are mandatory under Polk County Ordinances, feral and free-roaming cats handled by Feral Fanciers will receive a 3 year rabies shot with sterilization, along with an “ear-tip”. Feral Fanciers operates solely on donations and volunteers. We will try to assist you as best we can, but we also need your help as much as possible. If you are unable to pay the total cost sterilization we can try to help you through our funding only if available. We can have a volunteer help you trap or you might want to borrow traps from us and try trapping yourself. Feral Fanciers also operates an adoption program at Petco store 2704 on 4139 US Highway 98 N, Lakeland, FL 33809, on the weekends. It was started to help the friendly cats and kittens found in feral groups find a home. Our Adoption fee is $40 and all adoptions are subject to the Petco Foundation Guidelines. If you would like more information on how we can help you please navigate to the “Contact” page.
