Feral Fanciers, Inc. is a nonprofit group established for the purpose of TNR (trap, neuter/spay, and
return) of feral (community) cats to their caregiver.  We do not take or relocate feral cats as we have no
shelter and there is no place to relocate them.
We are NOT a shelter, thus we do not take
cats.

We work with several different veterinarians and agencies to sterilize feral cats.  We do have to pay for
their services at a discounted rate.    These are listed below with the rates they charge our group.  A
rabies shot is required by Polk County.   Prices are always subject to change.

SPCA of Lakeland:   spay and rabies $56,  neuter and rabies $46,  will abort kittens for no extra charge,
these prices are subject to increase very soon depending on their grant
A local Veterinarian in Lakeland:   spay or neuter with rabies $50,    $50 extra to abort

Humane Society of Tampa Bay:  spay or neuter and rabies $25,  no extra charge to abort,  can bring only
on Mondays in a trap.
Planned Pethood, A nonprofit clinic in Zephyrhills:  spay/neuter $25,  $10 extra to abort, rabies $7 more

The SPCA allows Feral Fanciers to bring in cats in a trap any weekday without an appointment.
They do limit our group to 10 cats on Monday and 5 cats on the other weekdays.  These cats must also
have Feral Fancier paperwork.  An appointment must be made through Feral Fanciers in order to
receive the reduced rates with our local veterinarian or the Zephyrhills group.
Kindly email us
for more information on making the appointments.
The SPCA and Tampa Bay will notch the
left ear.  All others give a choice.

Feral Fanciers operates on donations, fundraisers, a little bit of grant money, and volunteers who also
have jobs and families.  We will do the best we can to help you, but we also would like you to accept
some of the responsibility.  If you are unable to pay the total cost we can try to help you through our
funds depending upon how much we have available.  You need to determine which of the agencies or
vets listed above would be best for you to use.  This might depend on your location, amount you can
pay, time available etc.  We can have a volunteer help you trap or you might want to borrow traps from
us and try trapping yourself.  We can help transport the cats or you may be able to do this yourself.
Male cats can be released the next day after their surgery, but it is usually best to allow females a
couple days to recover in a trap or crate especially if they were pregnant.  Sometimes we can help do
this or you may be able to do it yourself.   There can be a waiting period depending on funds available
and the amount of help you can give.

Feral Fanciers also operates an adoption program at Petco of Lakeland on the weekends.  It was
started to help the friendly cats and kittens found in feral groups find a home.  This is run by
volunteers.  If you have friendly kittens or cats you are welcome to bring them to the Petco adoptions,
but you must foster them until they are adopted.
We do not take cats and kittens.  We only have a
couple foster volunteers and they are kept busy with cats and kittens found with no caregiver.
According to Petco rules the cats must be at least 8 weeks old and have a distemper shot and worm
medicine which is available from our group for a small fee.

We hope this information will be helpful to you and that we can be partners working together to help
provide a better life for feral (community) cats and reduce their unwanted population in a humane way.
Please contact us to let us know how we can best help you.
